How about a good old-fashioned sledding expedition?
3 natural sledding hills , from the Bichlalm in Hintertux, the Grieralm and the Höllensteinhütte, invite you to do just that. All three traditional inns have sleds available to rent. From the Bichlalm, you can enjoy indescribable panoramas of the glacier.
Enjoy a "Holiday on Ice" on the big natural skating rink in Lanersbach . If you decide to take your chances out on the ice, or prefer to watch your kids as they show off their pirouettes – no matter whether you are big or small, there is something here for everyone to enjoy!
A traditional game of ice stock (Alpine-style curling) guarantees lots of fun-filled hours away from the slopes. There are four rinks in the area, where you can try your hand at the target and distance versions of the sport.
Open from mid-December until the end of February.
The big hit in Tux is definitely its 38 km of winter hiking paths . All the paths have been scrupulously marked with snowflake signs. For a real challenge, explore the winter hiking paths on the Eggalm or Sommerbergalm, where you’ll climb the better part of 700 vertical meters.
Your reward: rustic mountain inns and panoramic restaurants that serve up specialties. If you prefer to take a more leisurely approach to enjoying the wonderful scenery, hop aboard one of the gondola lifts and soar all the way to the summit station. Were you aware that hiking strengthens muscles and tendons, gives your metabolism a jump start and stimulates your blood circulation?
So, slip on those hiking boots and off we go into a winter wonderland.
